Life Saving Measures

During the height of boating season, in July of 2012, a local 24-year-old boat captain responded to the cries of a mother near Havasu Springs Resort — and saved the life of an injured 7-year-old boy.

In January, the boat captain, Sean McKinney, of Vessel Assist, was honored by the Boat U.S. Foundation for Safe Boating and Clean Water and awarded the “Woody Pollack Lifesaving Award.”

The foundation provides educational outreach directly to boaters and supports partner organizations nationwide, according to its website.

On the day of the rescue, McKinney said he was towing a boat into Havasu Springs marina, situated south on Lake Havasu.
